[Day 25, Early Morning] What's in a Name?

Geisha within the lands of the Dragon Clan are renowned for their brilliance and wit. Those who live in the shadow of Shiro Mirumoto are far from an exception. The best girls are the most educated and have almost a monkish dedication to the pursuit of beauty through wisdom. The Perch’s okasan is Gion, a keen-tongued singer for whom rumors persist that she is the secret paramore of the Fortune Fukurokujin or is even the Oracle of Fire.

Gion wrote:"Hmmm. He is... a nice man. A kind man. Bald, like you. And he laughs a lot when he visits. He taught me how to read the mon of all the clans."

"All the mon?" The monk's eyes widen. "You must be pretty smart, Suneki! What's he teaching you currently?"

The merchant placed the coins in the monk's hand, and to his delight, the man only smiled and handed out more.

Suneki shrugged. 'Nothing really. He tried to tell me about swords, but mother didn't like that. He doesn't come by now. That was about.... last summer." She kept molding it the pile into the shape of a castle.

Suneki thought really hard on that. "I think so. But you'll have to ask Mother. Do you want to play?"

The monk takes a sidelong glance at the sculpted castle. A pause, and then he rolls up his sleeves.

"What would you like to play, Suneki?"

"We can play... Lord and Samurai." Suneki stood atop the snow castle, careful not to knock over any of the towers. "You can be the Samurai. Your first order is to make an army and send it to find Suneki and her mother."

"At once, my lord!" Midori exclaims, bowing. His hands are unused to the texture of snow, but under their supervision squat, sturdy bushi begin to take shape. Charitably, one could assume that they were dressed in heavy, asymmetrical armour as they formed up before their master.

"We shall scour every corner of the land!" the monk announces in the squeaky voice he assumes appropriate for a tiny snow samurai.

"That panda over there! It might know where Suneki went." The Lord pointed her stick towards the red panda sculpture. "Samurai, ask it where Suneki had gone!"

"Panda-sama!" The samurai barks. "In the name of our Lord, can you tell us where Lady Suneki has gone? We samurai have gathered to find her, and nothing will stand in our way!"

"I sure know where she went, Samurai." Suneki mimicked a high-pitched voice for the rodent. "She went up to the far mountain with her mother so she could feel at home." Suneki stepped out of her little castle and moved to a snow-capped boulder where she began to sculpt again. "But she was still sad. She told me her father had many things to teach her."
