[Day 28, Early Morning] A Game of Koans, Teacher Reviews (Crane)

A row of storehouses have been converted into guest quarters just north-facing the training grounds. The Crane Clan Occupy the center-left building. Their accommodations are modestly furnished with notable works of art taking up one sliding door wall in the middle. One panel is a painting of Shiro Daidoji, the matching panel reveals a di-glyph, showing a landscape of the Kosaten Province beyond.

[Day 28, Early Morning] A Game of Koans, Teacher Reviews (Crane)

Postby ???????? » Tue Mar 14, 2017 6:45 am

A monk walks up to the Embassy gates. Rather than leave a note, he sits down, a silver tray in his lap. Upon it sits a simple sign.

Ask

He does not leave, but rather waits to be addressed.

The young woman of the Crane clan is the first to emerge from the Embassy, to find a monk outside the door.

"You stayed," she says, pointing out the obvious. "Is that part of the riddle too?"

"No more riddles. Just answers, if you should care for them." The monk gestures at the floor, inviting the Kakita to sit.

Kyoumi sits across from the monk. "It is cruel to mock caged birds," she says.

Karasu comes in. His pinky digging into his ear. A big yawn announces his presence.

"Morning Kyoumi-San, I'm getting tea, would you like some?"

Karasu notices the monk. "Oh, would you like some too?"

"Certainly, thank you."

He turns to Kyoumi, and bows deeply.

"It is never our intent to mock. Simply to inspire thought with a series of koans. It is the unfortunate truth that some introspection can be unpleasant."

"Please bring some, yes, Karasu-san. And maybe the brazier? We might be here a while."
She politely ignores the ear. She's good at politely ignoring that.

"True. But words said flat out can be equally unpleasant but at least leave with all parties understanding what the topic under discussion is. Do you have an opinion on the content of our last petition?"

"It is not the place of a humble monk to speak of the political affairs of samurai. If I had an opinion, then I could not speak it now."

"Fair enough. So, were they randomly selected, and you let the fortune's guide you to good choices, or were they selected around a specific theme, or were they selected separately for an evolving theme?"

Kyoumi draws her knees up and wraps her arms around them. It is rather cold.
